Summer Prospects at Wooster – Extended Summer Academics for Ages 6-14

Wooster School, in Danbury, CT, announces open enrollment for Summer Prospects at Wooster, an individualized half-day academic program for all Wooster School, Prospect School at Wooster, and community students who would benefit from summer academic work in a small-class, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Summer Prospects at Wooster participants can expect that their academic skills will be strengthened and that they will be able to start their fall semesters with confidence and reduced anxiety. Each student participates in four classes a day: reading, mathematics, writing, and an individualized tutorial based on his or her needs.

Anne Moran and Dr. Kelly Raymond are the co-directors of Summer Prospects at Wooster. Anne has an MS in Special Education and is Orton Gillingham trained. She’s served as a Learning Specialist for 23 years at the Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, CT and currently supports students at Wooster School. Dr. Raymond has a Ph.D. in School Psychology and is also Orton Gillingham trained. She serves as a Learning Specialist for Wooster’s Lower School Division, and as Director of Curriculum and Assessment for The Prospect School at Wooster. They are supported by several additional trained faculty members.

Summer Prospects at Wooster is designed to be an enjoyable stress-free experience for its students.  Lessons will be taught with curriculum tools and activities that promote creativity and learning while being true to the joy and wonder that summer brings.  The program is not graded and there will be no tests.  Faculty and staff will meet with each family at the end of the program to report on student progress.

Current Wooster and Prospect School at Wooster students are accepted without application. Other students will be admitted based on a brief interview.

Summer Prospects at Wooster runs from Monday, July 9 through Friday, August 10, 2012. Summer Prospects at Wooster students can also spend their afternoons at the Summer at Wooster camp at a discounted rate.
