The Ten Little Pigs Construct Houses The Big Bad Wolf Cannot Blow Down!

Master woodworker Howard Gorman from the Prospect School agreed to help the Ten Little Pigs (aka the first graders) learn best carpentry practices.

Workshop monitors Tate and Izzy were on hand to make sure tools were used properly, materials were accessible, and also to guide hammers and straighten bent nails.

Transportation wizards Dr. Kelly and Ms. Mathis managed ten trips in the van to transport the two groups of eight. The first grade teachers gathered enough car seats to make the trip possible. The arduous journey was well worth the effort- each “little piggy” has a sturdy cabin, thoroughly nailed and glued. In addition, the first graders now know how to safely and effectively hammer nails!

Pig City is already quite well appointed, with wonderful straw houses made from looping, weaving, and sewing baskets together with reed. The first graders are becoming very well fortified against wolf attacks!

COMING SOON!!! Building with bricks- can it be done? Yes! How will they get bricks? They will make them! How and where? They will make them out of clay in the pottery studio!! When? SOON!
