The Wheels On The Bus

The kindergarten class is studying public transportation to help them better understand how people rely on others for goods and services, as part of our social studies curriculum.

Last Thursday the class took a Hart bus to Wilton center in an effort to learn more about the Danbury/Norwalk public transportation bus system. They took the bus to better understand how people rely on buses to help them move around from one place to another.

Boarding the bus, the children put quarters into the money machine. They used trip sheets to record information they observed as they rode the bus. For example, students recorded how many quarters it took to pay the fare for a one way trip and they counted the number of people they saw traveling on the bus.

Once we arrived in Wilton center we walked to the Wilton Luncheonette for a muffin and a hot chocolate and then rode the Hart bus back to Danbury! What fun!
